2025-07-08

On July 3, 2025, the opening ceremony of Dalian University of Technology (DUT) - Belarusian State University (BSU) 2025 China-Belarus International Summer Camp was grandly held. Kong Feng, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of Liaoning Provincial Department of Education, and Luo Zhongxuan, Member of the Party Standing Committee and Vice President of DUT, attended the ceremony. The summer camp was jointly planned and organized by the DUT-BSU Joint Institute of DUT, the School of International Education of DUT, the BSU-DUT Joint Institute of BSU, and the Confucius Institute of BSU, with strong support from the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Liaoning Provincial Department of Education.

Kong Feng introduced Liaoning's important position, its own advantages, and the development of higher education in the "Belt and Road Initiative", and fully affirmed the achievements of educational exchanges and cooperation between DUT and BSU. He stated that cultural exchange is an important way to promote mutual understanding and affection among people of all countries. Young students are important envoys of friendly exchanges and play a vital role in promoting cultural exchange. He encouraged the campers to personally experience the beauty of Liaoning, which is known as "known as 'a vast land of mountains and seas", to further understand China, enhance their knowledge of Chinese civilization and excellent traditional culture, and act as envoys of friendly exchanges between China and Belarus, playing a bridging role and making positive contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Luo Zhongxuan pointed out in his speech that the traditional friendship between China and Belarus has stood the test of time, with a solid foundation for cooperation. From high-level mutual visits to "Belt and Road" cooperation, from the Year of Science and Technology Innovation to the new pattern of the China-Belarus University Alliance, bilateral cooperation has shown vigorous vitality. This summer camp is not only a vivid portrayal of the high-level development of Sino-Belarusian higher education cooperation, but also a powerful testament to the sincere cooperation between DUT and BSU in nurturing outstanding talents together. He encouraged the campers to be brave in pioneering and innovating, break through themselves during the study tour, strive to be practitioners of cross-cultural exchanges, trendsetters in the digital intelligence era, and inheritors the friendship between China and Belarus, and strive to grow into pillars of the times.

At the opening ceremony, Wang Jue, Director of the International Office of DUT, awarded the summer camp flag to the representative of the campers. Liudmila Liashenka, Dean of BSU-DUT Joint Institute of BSU, Liu Pinshan, representative of DUT teachers, Asol Yanushkevich, student representative of the BSU-DUT Joint Institute of BSU, and Ulyana Shendik, representative of BSU Confucius Institute students, delivered speeches in turn at the opening ceremony.

It is reported that the summer camp consists of 59 teachers and students from two groups in Belarus. Among them, the student group from the BSU-DUT Joint Institute of BSU is the fifth summer camp group hosted by DUT. During the two-week summer camp, the campers will attend classes together, engage in immersive learning of "Chinese + science and engineering majors" courses; conduct scientific research in groups, work together to prepare for the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition; personally experience the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture, and gain a comprehensive and multi-angle understanding of China's rapid development and the frontier of various disciplines in DUT.

Going forward, DUT will unwaveringly assume its role as a "bridgehead" for Sino-Belarusian cultural exchanges. With a more open stance and innovative mindset, it will strive to open a new chapter in cooperation across education, scientific research, culture, and other fields. For its part, the DUT-BSU Joint Institute will fully leverage the strengths of collaborative education, further deepen joint talent cultivation, scientific research collaboration, and cultural exchanges, and establish itself as a model of Sino-Belarusian educational cooperation. It will contribute wisdom and strength to building the "Belt and Road" education community.
